A MESSAGE FROM JEAN MacCOLL
Dear Friends
Thank you for your enduring support over these last
years. It has been a tremendous help to me and my family, particularly
when things seemed incredibly difficult. Now I can share the latest news
with you.
I am going to México in the third week of November
with Robin Bextor and his TV crew. We hope to find out more about the
accident from witnesses.
The BBC TV London News team will be at Soho Square
on October 12th to televise all of you coming to celebrate Kirsty's birthday
so I hope there will be some singing! I have told them that you expect
to be there at 12pm. It is possible that they might interview one or two
people. The programme will go out with a previously filmed interview with
me done a day or two earlier. They will also be at Heathrow filming our
departure.
Robin thinks the documentary will
be ready after Christmas. We hope that it will coincide with a benefit
concert being discussed. Depending on how many artists will be free to
support us, the venue could be either Shepherd's Bush Empire or the Albert
Hall. These plans are in the early stages and nothing yet is finalised.
As soon as I know, I will pass the information on.
In April the publishers Andre Deutsch
are bringing out a biography of Kirsty by Karen O'Brien.
Things are moving forward thanks
to our united efforts and, make no mistake, your efforts have been invaluable.
So let's remember Kirsty with joy on October 12th. I'll be there again
to meet old and new friends.
And finally, I have several thousand
leaflets to distribute. A card can be torn off and is already addressed
to the President of México. All you have to do is sign your name and address
and put an air mail stamp on it. People are asking for tens, 100's, 300's.
If you can interest friends to post them on our behalf, please e-mail with
your address and telephone number and I will dispatch them. We do need
to make sure that every leaflet ends up being used. More will go across
México in Spanish. I will bring a few to the gathering on Sunday.
Finally, I would like to thank all
those who have contributed so generously to the fund. I apologise
that not all letters were acknowledged in the latter months. I have
a sight problem which made it a little difficult. Kirsty's army
of fans is on the march and people are listening to our demand for
'Justice for Kirsty'.
My thanks to you all, Jean MacColl.
